A few years ago, I built the above chair with a good friend and former opponaut e30m3. Sadly, it was given away while moving houses. I'm now starting to scope out which seat might be able to hold a candle to the xxxtra-luxe Benz chair.
What seat is the most comfortable you have experienced?
The ability to find said seat in a salvage yard is encouraged but not required :)

MKIII Supra seats. These things are the shit.
They're powered and move forward, backward, recline, the bottom raises up and down, and can be angled, plus you can adjust the back stiffness, and lumbar support. ALL POWERED, all from 1986. Canada got them heated as well, so you can toast your tooshie.

My old 2001 volvo s40 had great seats.

not been enough to really say the best 'ever'
But I have to say the seats in my parent's 06 750Li were freakin amazeballs.

I've always felt that Saab and Volvo has the best seats. The perfect compromise between comfortable and firm. You should be able to find one from an early S70/V70 in a salvage yard.

About 2 weeks after my '98 V70 went to the 'yard I started kicking myself and muttering "Why the fuck didn't I take the seats out and keep them!!??" under my breath at random moments, and especially when sitting on anything that wasn't a Volvo seat...

In this instance, you can't go wrong with 80's/90's Luxobarges. They are the epitome of comfort, cracked leather and all.
If the budget allows, you can never go wrong with the back seat of a Maybach:
The Grand Marquis/Town Car is perhaps the pinnacle of 1980's automotive plushness:
You really can't go wrong when your seat is a mile wide and made with a 5" thick cushion of the softest foam, a la 1980's Coupe de Ville:

my trucks bench is very comfortable. PO must've been fat because the weak spring area is more than twice the size of my ass. it's green vinyl, too.

Early 90's Chrysler New Yorker. You sink about a foot into them when you sit. AND THEY'RE VELVET COVERED.

Honorable mention to late 90's full-sized GM SUVs.
You could make a nifty little sofa out of the second row, like this:

Best us MY06 Mazda 6 front seats. Best seat I've ever sat in, including actual couches and chairs

I always remember growing up my dad saying the most comfortable client's car backseat he ever sat in was an Infiniti Q45, circa late 90's, early 2000's.

Since you said vehicle, and specified experienced, this is the most comfortable way I've traveled at speed over some distance.

Liked those seats so much that my last classic 900 Turbo convertible had 'em. Even fabbed up a rear seat from the Aero rear seat as well. Wish I held onto that car, but just didn't have the space here in the city for a 3rd car.

I'm to young to drive, but my dad is also an enthusiast. I found a 9000 Aero for cheap with low miles and he got it. It was his 4th 9000 Aero. We sold it about a month ago. I loved that car so much, so I know exactly what you mean about selling it.
By the way, my dad will tell you these are the best seats on earth if you ask him.:)

I agree on Saab. My dad has an '07 9-3 Aero convertible and those are some just fantastically comfy seats.

I've only ever seen one of these in a scrapyard. Copped the 'b' badges... those seats do look stellar.

Haha! My buddy hooked up an e36 seat's power options for his chair... Heated would be incredible!

I really like the Evo X Recaros. They're just a great shape and the headrest doesn't lean forward too far. I have trouble with that in a lot of modern cars. HEADS DON'T BEND LIKE THAT UNLESS YOU'RE MR. BURNS.
Older cars, though? I napped many a nap in my mom's '88 Ninety-Eight. Midnight blue Velveteen fabulousness.

Haven't actually sat in those, but I'll agree. The seats in my classic 900 are fantastic as well. I've taken long road trips in a number of cars, but the Saab was the only one that didn't leave me sore afterwards.

Classic 900 seats, in anything higher than a base 900, were superb.
